Visas & Registration

EU/EEA Students
EU citizens do not need a visa. Register your address with the Foreign Police within 30 days of arrival — your university or accommodation provider can usually assist.
Non-EU Students
Apply for a long-stay visa (D visa) at the Czech embassy in your home country before departure. Required documents: university acceptance, proof of funds, accommodation, health insurance.
Student Residence Permit
Non-EU students apply for a long-term residence permit for study purposes, typically at the Czech embassy before arrival, then complete biometrics with the Ministry of Interior (OAMP) after arrival.
Registering Your Address
All foreign residents must register their address with the Foreign Police ("hlášení pobytu") within 30 days of arrival. Your landlord or university can assist with the paperwork.
